The Maths Circle is a pan-TIFR initiative launched with a view towards identifying mathematically inclined students at an early stage, honing their aptitude and mathematical skills such as conjecturing, pattern recognition, perseverance, etc, and exposing them to the joy of doing mathematics. HBCSE will be starting a face-to-face math circle from March 27, 2024, for girl students of grade 8th and 9th standard studying in any school system (state board, CBSE, etc.). The math circle sessions will focus on problem-solving skills and perseverance through interesting math activities and atypical problems. The explorations and course material are curated by active researchers in Mathematics Education.
The math-circle sessions will be hosted in the Math Lab of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai, and the sessions are completely FREE. However, as we have limited seats (30 only).
The Math circle session will be hosted every Wednesday from 4 – 6 pm. There will be a total of 20 sessions. A student completing 80% of the sessions will be entitled to a certificate.
Parents will be responsible for picking up and dropping off the students.

Please note that if you cannot attend at least 80% of the sessions, please do not register for this programme. We hope to conduct such activities in the future as well.
The last date to apply is 15th March 2024.
Names of the selected students will be shared on 20th March 2024.
