Mathematics Education at HBCSE

hbc-mathedu2.jpgThe Mathematics Education research group at HBCSE focuses on the understanding and improvement of learning and teaching. To achieve this goal we study classroom interactions, students' meaning making, and other environmental dynamics that shape teaching and learning. 

 

The main objectives of the Mathematics Education group at HBCSE are to develop:

  • A better understanding of how school students learn mathematics
  • Ways of organizing the content of school mathematics for more effective learning
  • A better understanding of the teaching of school mathematics
  • Materials and other resources for the teaching and learning of school mathematics
 
The activities of the group are along three closely connected dimensions:

 

 

 

  

 

 

Additional mathematics education related activities of the Centre include olympiad training.
